About this Artwork.

Dürer is one of my “Heroes,” along with Bosch, the Flemish artists, and Escher (but also many others, and very different ones; I adore Mark Rothko and Oldenburg, for example; my influences are many and schizophrenic). This particular drawing is a reproduction of Dürer’s “Study of an Eighty-Year-Old Man,” created in preparation for the Saint Jerome I drew while at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice.

It has been exhibited in numerous shows and has always been the subject of requests to purchase. I generally don’t like selling my works; for me, they’re truly a part of me. I resisted for several years, but in the end, it found a place in a private collection in Austria.
