Amanuensis Book Project by Massimo Cravich
A book entirely illustrated, written and bound by hand.
This very particular work is a book in which all the pages have been written and decorated by hand. The book itself was then obviously hand-bound too. It is a collection of mostly Irish songs and ballads, each accompanied by an illustration relevant to the text. The volume is my property.
This isn’t actually my only work of this kind. For about forty years, I’ve been working on sketches and drafts, sometimes complete drawings, to create a book, always a unique copy, that illustrates the world of the “Totem Builders,” developing the figures within them, a sort of illustrated guide to my imaginary world. I don’t know when it will be finished, but there will be.
