About this Artwork…

This painting is part of a larger series that accompanied the performances inspired by Viennese Actionism and body art that I and other artists frequently held between the late 1980s and early 1990s. I usually created one at each event; the creation itself was part of the performance.

Almost all of them—there were about ten—were sold immediately (I was a penniless student, so I gave them away for nothing). I still have two of them, which I’ve titled “Performance 1 and 2,” even though, in terms of their chronological order, they would be the third and fifth.

Unfortunately, I don’t have any photographs of the other works; none were actually taken because, as mentioned, they were sold on the same day as the performance.
