Demon Painting by Massimo Cravich

I created this drawing by mixing colored earths (the kind used for frescoes) under jets of water, working on a heavyweight handmade paper. For many years, I thought it had been stolen, only to discover that I had actually given it as a gift to someone close to me.

I have created about four or five works of this kind, all inspired by a mix of African masks, cave paintings, and voodoo imagery. Unfortunately, I don’t have photographs of the other works, which were sold decades ago.
